The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of seven passengers by armed men along the Obbo-Aiyegunle/Osi Road in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. The attackers, believed to be about eight in number, ambushed a Sienna bus with registration number FFA 50 XD, which was traveling from Abuja to Offa.
The assailants forcibly removed seven occupants, including the driver, and took them into the surrounding forest. Swift action by police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, led to the recovery of the vehicle and the rescue of three children, aged between two and twelve, during a coordinated search of the nearby bush.

“One of the children was able to provide useful information that helped identify her guardian, who was contacted immediately. All three rescued children have since been reunited with their families,” the police spokesperson said.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has ordered an intensified search operation to locate the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
“We are fully committed to the safety and protection of all residents,” CP Ojo stated. “Our officers are deploying all available resources, including discreet investigations, intelligence gathering, and ongoing bush combing efforts, to ensure the safe return of the victims.”

The Command is urging anyone with useful information regarding the incident to reach out through its established communication channels.
This incident adds to growing concerns over the safety of commuters on major roads across the state.
