Body of Middle-Aged Man Recovered from Asa River in Ilorin

The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of a middle-aged man from the Asa River in Ilorin.

According to a statement issued by the Head of Media and Publicity, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the deceased, estimated to be around 45 years old, was discovered floating in the river by officials from the Kwara State Ministry of Environment. The officials, who had arrived at the Fire Service Operational Centre in a vehicle with registration number 17B-D4KW, promptly alerted the fire service.

A response team was immediately dispatched to the scene, successfully retrieving the body to mitigate potential environmental risks. The remains were subsequently handed over to the Ministry of Environment, pending formal identification and possible claims by the deceased’s family.

Reacting to the incident, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged residents to remain safety-conscious in their daily activities. He also advised against sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells, emphasizing the need for vigilance to prevent avoidable tragedies.

The cause of the man’s death remains unknown, and investigations are expected to follow.
