The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, on Tuesday led a government delegation to Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten Local Government Area to commiserate with the Emir and families affected by a recent deadly attack by gunmen.

According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, the visit was aimed at conveying the state government’s condolences and expressing solidarity with the victims of the tragic incident.
Accompanying the Speaker were Hon. Ahmed Saidu Baba, member representing Gwanabe/Adena/Bani/Gweria constituency; Chairman of Baruten Local Government Council, Hon. Isa Jibril; and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Baruten, Hon. Abu Setraco.
The delegation began with a visit to the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, whose subjects were among those killed in the attack. The team also met with bereaved families, the Ardo Fulani, and members of the Miyetti Allah group in the community.

During the visit, Danladi-Salihu conveyed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s deep sorrow over the attack, describing the incident as a dark moment for the state.
“We are here on behalf of the government and people of Kwara State to express our heartfelt condolences. This attack on innocent lives is unacceptable, and we assure you that justice will be served,” the Speaker said.
He further disclosed that the governor has instructed all security agencies, including the Army, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.

The Speaker also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with security operatives, assuring them that the government is intensifying efforts to restore peace and prevent further violence across the state.
