The Federal Polytechnic Bali hosted a comprehensive orientation programme on April 23, 2025, at the Sen. Abubakar Tutari Auditorium to welcome newly admitted ND1 and HND1 students of the 2024/2025 academic session.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Mohammed Usman, who welcomed the students on behalf of the institution’s Governing Council, Academic Board, and Management Committee. He congratulated them on their admission and assured them of the Polytechnic’s commitment to combining theoretical learning with practical experience. He emphasized discipline, academic integrity, and the importance of understanding the students’ handbook.
Guest speakers from various organizations and departments sensitized students on critical issues such as drug abuse, road safety, academic conduct, examination ethics, and personal security. CSN Ibrahim Ali of the NDLEA warned against the dangers of drug abuse, while SRC Bali Wunubo of the FRSC urged adherence to road safety regulations.
The Acting Registrar, Alhaji Umar Baba, outlined academic policies and consequences for misconduct. Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Bagudu further stressed the importance of examination ethics, warning students against malpractice.
Dr. Abubakar Clarkson Mohammed of SERVICOM spoke on service quality and the role of SERVICOM in addressing students’ complaints. Mr. Usman Baba, the Head of Library and Chief Security Officer, guided students on the use of library resources and stressed campus security vigilance.
Engr. Mahmud Useni discussed the proper use and maintenance of campus facilities like water supply and solar systems. Mr. Ahmed Isah, representing the institution’s Chief Nursing Officer, educated students about the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP), which offers free healthcare services to students.
On the extracurricular front, Coach Hassan Bila encouraged participation in sports to promote physical and mental well-being. Mr. Francis Joseph Ibiyemi, on behalf of the Career and Guidance Unit, highlighted available career support services for students.
The event featured interactive sessions and refreshments. In his closing remarks, the Rector commended the students’ participation and urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and to maximize their time at the institution.
