The journalism community in Taraba State is mourning the sudden passing of veteran journalist Jethro Yerga, whose death has left a significant void in the media landscape.
In a tribute issued on behalf of the Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chairman Mathew Jen Eliud described Yerga as a “champion of truth and a shining light in the journalism profession.”
“Jethro Yerga was a tireless reporter, deeply committed to the truth, accuracy, and giving a voice to the underrepresented. His dedication to ethical journalism and his passion for telling the stories that mattered most earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and audiences alike,” Eliud said.
The NUJ noted that Yerga’s contributions extended beyond his professional work, citing his infectious enthusiasm, boundless energy, and generosity in supporting others within the field.
“To his family, especially his newlywed wife, and to all who knew and loved him, we offer our deepest condolences,” the statement read. “Journalists across Taraba State and beyond stand in solidarity during this difficult time, united in grief and in celebration of his impactful life.”
Yerga’s legacy, the NUJ said, will continue to inspire the next generation of media professionals. “As we say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that his stories will live on, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
