The member representing Karim-Lamido II Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Dio Jen, has tendered his resignation from the legislature following his appointment as Commissioner for the Ministry of Tertiary Institutions by Governor Agbu Kefas.
The appointment was announced on April 15, 2025, by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Gebon Kataps, who disclosed that the governor had approved Jen’s nomination as part of an ongoing cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening the state’s executive arm.
Hon. Jen, who disclosed his decision to resign shortly after the announcement, described the moment as a mixture of joy and sadness, particularly for his constituents. He expressed his readiness to serve in any capacity as directed by the governor.
“My appointment as Commissioner to head the Ministry for Tertiary Institutions comes with mixed feelings. But the Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, is my leader. Whatever he instructs me to do, I will willingly comply—even if it means serving at the ward level,” he stated.
He added: “If the Governor deems it fit that I should assist him in this new capacity, I will not hesitate. Leadership is about service, and I trust his judgment.”
With his resignation, a by-election is expected to be conducted to fill the vacant seat in the Karim-Lamido II Constituency of the House of Assembly.
