Taraba – May 3, 2025
The Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, has returned to Jalingo after a four-month absence reportedly due to health-related issues.

Alkali arrived at the Danbaba Suntai Airport, Jalingo, at about 1:40 p.m. on Saturday aboard a chartered aircraft. His return was unannounced, and journalists were not present at the airport due to lack of prior notification.
Sources close to the Deputy Governor’s office disclosed that he was initially flown to Abuja for treatment of an undisclosed ailment before being transferred to Egypt for further medical care.

Journalists covering the Deputy Governor’s office said they were unaware of his return until after his arrival. “We were told that the Deputy Governor is back in Jalingo, but no official information was given to us ahead of time,” one reporter stated.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Deputy Governor’s office, which currently has no appointed press secretary.

However, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Digital Communications, Mr Emmanuel Bello, confirmed Alkali’s return but did not provide additional details.
