Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Area in Taraba State, Hon. Moses Maihankali, has restated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development across the council’s ten wards.

Maihankali, who assumed office with a focus on grassroots transformation, has been lauded for his consultative leadership style and conflict resolution skills, even amid political criticism.

Community members describe him as a unifying figure who engages both allies and opposition with respect and fairness.

Our administration is people-centered. We are committed to listening, resolving differences, and working with all stakeholders to move Kurmi forward,” he said during a recent interaction with community leaders.

Since the start of his tenure, the council has initiated a range of development projects aimed at improving the standard of living in the area. Key focus areas include:

Infrastructure: Road construction, electrification of rural communities, and rehabilitation of public buildings.

Economic Empowerment: Support for small-scale businesses, job creation initiatives, and microfinance access.

Education and Health: Upgrading of primary schools and health centres to improve access to essential services.

Youth and Women Development: Capacity-building programmes, vocational training, and start-up support for entrepreneurs.

Social Cohesion: Community engagement forums designed to promote unity and local participation in governance.

Residents say the chairman’s approachable demeanor and transparent governance model have restored confidence in local administration.

As a leader, he has shown that governance is about service, not politics,” said a youth leader in Baissa Ward.

Maihankali emphasized that his administration remains focused on delivering visible, people-oriented results. He assured constituents of continued progress, stating that plans are underway to scale existing projects and introduce new initiatives aimed at addressing emerging needs.
