The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned new residential quarters in Kaduna as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of its personnel.

The projects, commissioned by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, include modern accommodation for instructors, married Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), and single officers. The development is aimed at addressing accommodation challenges while fostering morale and operational effectiveness within the service.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Abubakar said the initiative aligns with the NAF’s broader commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its officers and airmen. “Decent accommodation is essential for our personnel to perform their duties effectively,” he said. “We remain committed to ensuring their living conditions reflect the sacrifices they make in the line of duty.”

He added that the project is part of a long-term strategy to improve personnel welfare, which he described as a critical pillar for achieving the Air Force’s strategic objectives.

The CAS reiterated that improving the living conditions of personnel strengthens loyalty, unity, and operational readiness in the face of evolving national security challenges.

The new residential blocks are part of a series of infrastructure upgrades being undertaken across NAF formations nationwide. Observers say the development reflects a growing emphasis on human capital development within the military, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to prioritise the welfare of security forces.

Dignitaries at the event included senior military officers, traditional rulers, and representatives of the Kaduna State Government, who commended the initiative as a step in the right direction.
