Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside prominent party stakeholders, convened on Sunday in Abuja for the fifth meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) for 2025.
The high-level meeting, held at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, brought together serving and former PDP governors, as well as members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum.
Top of the agenda were discussions on key national issues, internal party cohesion, and early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, presided over the session. The meeting is considered a crucial step in rallying PDP forces amid ongoing political realignments and public discontent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Among the serving governors in attendance were Dr. Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Dr. Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Pastor Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Dr. Peter Mbah (Enugu), Barr. Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Engr. Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who represented the Governor of Bayelsa State.
Also in attendance was the Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo.
The meeting featured an enlarged session with former PDP governors still listed on the party’s nominal roll. Notable among them were former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki (Kwara), Dr. Ibrahim Shekarau (Kano), Sen. Ahmed Makarfi (Kaduna), Sen. Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Sen. Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Dr. Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Mr. Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
Others included Dr. Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), Sen. Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Sen. Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Adamu Muazu (Bauchi), Dr. Achike Udenwa (Imo), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Muazu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), and Sule Lamido (Jigawa).
Insiders say the forum aims to lay a strategic framework for rebuilding the party’s national presence, ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral cycle in 2027.
