Chairman of the House Committee on Health Care Services and Member representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Amos Gwamna Magaji, has expressed optimism over the evolving political landscape in Southern Kaduna under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Magaji stated this at the weekend in Kaduna shortly after receiving the Authentic Special Award of Recognition for the Year 2024 during the 10th edition of the Authentic News Daily Awards and Lecture Series.
He reiterated his commitment to providing people-oriented representation, especially through healthcare reforms, adding that any future political ambition, including a potential Senate run in 2027, would be based on performance and the will of the people.
“2027 is still a few years away and remains in the hands of God. We will continue doing what we have always done—promoting healthcare services and ensuring development in our constituency. The people will decide what comes next,” he said.
Responding to speculations about a Senate bid, the lawmaker noted that his focus remains on impactful service rather than political positioning.
“It’s not about unseating anyone. It’s about quality representation. If the people assess our record and find it worthy, then so be it,” he added.
Magaji, known for his performance-driven approach to governance, said his achievements in Zangon Kataf and Jaba local councils are evident and acknowledged even by political opponents.
“I do not engage in much talk. I believe in results. Even our critics can attest to the transformation we’ve brought to Zangon Kataf and Jaba. As the Bible says, ‘he who is faithful in little will be faithful in much,’” he noted.
He also commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for what he described as a “new wave of inclusiveness” across Southern Kaduna. According to him, the governor’s outreach, infrastructural projects, and political appointments have helped rebuild trust in the APC in a region historically skeptical of the party.
“Before now, joining the APC in Southern Kaduna could have been met with hostility. But today, there is a renewed sense of hope. Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance, and the people are taking notice,” he said.
Magaji disclosed that his defection to the APC was informed by the shifting sentiments among his constituents and the apparent developmental strides of the current administration. He expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“With what we’re seeing, Governor Uba Sani is well on track for a second term. The APC is also strengthening its foothold nationally,” he stated.
