Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has ordered the immediate recruitment of over 4,000 teachers trained under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) initiative into the state civil service.
The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf made the announcement during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of instructional materials to public schools across the state. He said the move was aimed at strengthening the teaching workforce and enhancing the quality of education in Kano.
According to the governor, the prospective candidates will undergo an aptitude test, after which successful applicants will be offered permanent appointments under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
“This is part of our effort to reward dedication and ensure quality education delivery. Only those who are qualified and capable will be absorbed into the system,” Yusuf stated.
He added that the initiative underscores his administration’s commitment to merit-based employment and long-term educational reform.
The governor directed SUBEB to commence immediate screening and documentation of the BESDA-trained personnel in preparation for their deployment.
