Makurdi Benue – May 12, 2025
The Mbachoghur Development Association in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for what it described as pragmatic and inclusive leadership aimed at advancing development across the state.

The commendation was made on Saturday, May 10, during a courtesy visit to the Director of Research and Publication at the Benue Public Service Institute (PBSI), Dr. Mark Nyitse, who hails from the Mbachoghur community. The visit took place at Dr. Nyitse’s residence in Makurdi.
Led by the association’s Chairman, Mr. Akpera Sylvester Tyogema, and Treasurer, Mr. Zaki Tyotom Akpen, the delegation applauded Governor Alia for identifying and appointing a son of the soil into a strategic position within his administration.

According to the group, the appointment of Dr. Nyitse was a clear demonstration of the governor’s commitment to grassroots inclusion and capacity-driven governance. They further urged the governor to remain steadfast in enhancing security in Tarka LGA, particularly in the Mbachoghur axis which shares boundaries with volatile parts of Buruku and Guma local councils.
While offering prayers and words of encouragement to Dr. Nyitse, the group charged him to uphold the principles of integrity, loyalty, and public service in discharging his duties. They also pledged their continued support for the administration’s development agenda.

In his remarks, Dr. Nyitse expressed gratitude for the visit and described the gesture as a great honour. He pledged to remain a worthy ambassador of the Mbachoghur community and assured the delegation of his commitment to supporting the governor’s policies and programmes, especially those targeted at youth empowerment and socio-economic development.
He also lauded Mr. Zaki Akpen for his grassroots peace-building initiatives and encouraged him to sustain efforts toward promoting harmony and unity across the Mbakor region.

Other members of the delegation included the association’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Shima Akighir, and Secretary, Mr. Mike Terhemen, among others.
