Gombe State Chapter Addresses Unauthorized Meeting
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Gombe State has publicly rejected the claim of Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe’s alleged appointment as the National Deputy Chairman (North) of the party. The party has also warned its members against attending a planned meeting linked to this unrecognized appointment.

In an official statement issued by Engineer Abdulkadir M. Kumo, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the State SDP Chairman, Comrade Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, the party described the planned meeting as unauthorized and politically motivated.
Fake Appointment Denied by SDP
According to the statement, the party emphasized that it did not issue, approve, or recognize the appointment of Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe to any official position. The statement stressed that the claim was “fake, illegitimate, and should be disregarded entirely.”
The party also clarified that Dr. Gombe is not a registered member of the SDP. “Available party records show that he was last affiliated with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the previous general elections. There is no documentation or official communication indicating his return to the SDP,” Engineer Abdulkadir said. “As such, he lacks any standing within our party.”

Other Figures Involved in the Dispute
The statement also named Musa Maccido and Reverend John Nwarke, two individuals linked to the unauthorized meeting. Maccido officially exited the party in 2024, while Nwarke left after the party’s national convention in 2022.
“These individuals, and others involved in this charade, are not recognized members of our party. Their actions are null, void, and politically mischievous,” the SDP statement read.

Party’s Unity and Call for Public Awareness
The SDP expressed concerns that the unauthorized meeting was part of a broader strategy by political elements to sow confusion and create division within the party. However, the statement expressed confidence that these efforts would fail.
“The general public is hereby advised to disregard any congratulatory messages, press statements, or meetings associated with this fake appointment. Such actions do not reflect the position of the SDP,” the statement concluded.

SDP’s Commitment to the 2027 Elections
In closing, the Social Democratic Party reaffirmed its focus and unity, emphasizing its preparedness for the 2027 general elections. “The SDP remains focused, united, and committed to delivering a strong and credible alternative to Nigerians. We will not be distracted by impostors and agents of disunity,” the party stated.
The party further vowed to protect its integrity from any internal or external sabotage, stressing that its leadership and direction remain firm.
