The 2025 National Museum and Monument Day was hosted by the Eggon Nation in a colourful celebration of Nigeria’s cultural diversity and historical heritage.
The event, which took place in Jos, drew dignitaries from across the country, including the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule; the Emir of Lafia; the Are Eggon; and other eminent personalities. The presence of top officials underscored the importance of the occasion to Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
In a goodwill message, the Accountant General of Nasarawa State, Musa Ahmed Mohammed, congratulated the Eggon Nation for the honour of hosting the national event. Represented by a former member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Dogara, Mohammed commended the Eggon people for their cultural resilience and contribution to the preservation of national heritage.
He noted that the event was not only a platform for cultural expression but also a symbol of national unity.
Mohammed hailed Governor Sule’s leadership for being inclusive and equitable, stating that his administration has consistently empowered all ethnic groups within the state.
“His Excellency’s presence at the event reinforces the role of culture as a unifying force and affirms his commitment to inclusive governance,” he said.
The Accountant General also lauded the National Commission for Museums and Monuments for selecting the Eggon Nation as host, reaffirming the state’s commitment to preserving historical landmarks and promoting cultural identity.
He called on Nigerians to embrace their heritage as a vital element of national cohesion and pride.
