Islamabad – May 21, 2025
In a major development for Pakistan’s defense capabilities, China is expediting the delivery of J-35A fifth-generation stealth fighter jets to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). The first batch of 30 aircraft is expected to be delivered as early as August 2025, with the deal reportedly involving a significant 50% discount.

The delivery timeline has been moved forward as Pakistani pilots undergo training in China to familiarize themselves with the advanced capabilities of the J-35A. This multi-role stealth fighter, developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, is designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground operations, offering significant advantages in terms of radar evasion and advanced avionics.
The acquisition of the J-35A marks a significant step in Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its air force and enhance its regional security posture. The deal, which is part of a broader strategic partnership with China, will see Pakistan receive a total of 40 J-35A aircraft.

Analysts view the deal as a response to India’s ongoing advancements in air power, particularly its development of fifth-generation fighter jets. The expedited delivery of the J-35A is expected to bolster Pakistan’s air superiority in the region, significantly enhancing its defense capabilities.
