Jalingo Taraba – May 21, 2025
President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on Wednesday urged governments at all levels to prioritise support for local investors, stating that foreign investors are more likely to invest where domestic investors thrive.

Dangote made the call at the Taraba International Investment Summit (TARAVEST) 2025, held in Jalingo.
The summit, themed “Unlocking Taraba’s Economic Potentials,” aims to attract investment into key sectors of the state’s economy.
“Foreign investors will not come to a place where local investors are not doing well. Government must make deliberate efforts to encourage local investment,” Dangote said.

He reaffirmed his company’s commitment to continued investment in Nigeria, especially in job creation and industrial development.
According to him, the government benefits significantly from Dangote Cement Plc, with 52 kobo from every N100 earned going to taxes.

Dangote also identified Taraba State as a prime location for agriculture, citing its fertile land, favourable climate, and business-friendly regulations. He described the state as having “the best agricultural potential in Nigeria” and praised its natural landscape.
The industrialist commended Governor Agbu Kefas for mobilizing both local and international investors to the state and pledged support for the administration’s investment drive.

Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by Niger State Governor Umar Bago, also addressed the summit. He described Taraba as an emerging hub for agriculture and urged residents to support investment initiatives while safeguarding their land rights.

TARAVEST 2025 continues through the week with presentations and exhibitions from various sectors, including agribusiness, mining, tourism, and infrastructure.
