ASCSN Urges Credible Leadership as Taraba Branch Elects New Executives

JALINGO, Nigeria – May 28, 2025

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has reiterated the importance of electing credible and committed leaders to strengthen the union and protect the rights of its members.

This call was made by the National President of the ASCSN, Comrade Shehu Muhammad, during the 5th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the union’s Taraba State branch, held in Jalingo. Represented by the National Vice President, Comrade Onjeh Enewa, Muhammad emphasized that the future of the union depends on visionary and accountable leadership.

“With credible leaders on board, the sky will be their limit,” he stated, adding that leadership rooted in transparency and dedication is key to advancing the welfare of civil servants across the country.

The conference, attended by union members, government officials, and stakeholders, served as a platform to elect a new leadership team for the next four years.

Elected officers include:

Chairperson: Comrade Paulina Ishaya Gani

Vice Chairpersons: Comrade Isaac Makong and Comrade Hauwa Garbabi

Treasurer: Comrade Jonathan Ayuba

Auditor: Comrade Mary Inuwa

Ex-Officio: Comrade Foma Danasabe

Comrade Paulina Ishaya Gani, who was re-elected as Chairperson, expressed appreciation for the trust placed in her. In her remarks, she pledged to continue prioritizing the welfare of members and to uphold the democratic and ethical values of the union.

The peaceful conduct of the election was widely commended, with observers from the Ministry of Labour, the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Office of the Head of Service praising the ASCSN for its commitment to democratic practices and workers’ rights.

In her address, Gani stated, “This election is not just a process—it’s a reflection of our shared commitment to integrity, service, and the well-being of every member.”

The outcome of the conference marks a renewed commitment to internal democracy and responsible leadership within the union, setting a standard for other branches across the nation.
