The Plateau State Government has dismissed allegations that Governor Caleb Mutfwang is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the claims as baseless and misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Jos, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Party Relations, John Akans, said the governor remains fully committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has not expressed any intention to leave.
“The claims made by the purported APC Vanguard are unfounded and lack credibility. Their claims are as fictional as their chances of winning elections in Plateau State,” Akans stated.
He said the group, which calls itself the APC Vanguard, holds no official recognition within the APC’s structure and does not represent the party’s position. He described the statement as a reflection of “desperation and confusion.”
Akans further criticized the APC’s current political relevance in the state, calling it “dysfunctional” and “dwindling under their watch.” He urged members of the group to focus on rebuilding their party instead of disseminating falsehoods.
He added that Governor Mutfwang is focused on delivering good governance and fulfilling his mandate to the people of Plateau State, stressing that the PDP-led administration remains committed to development, peace, and stability.
“The APC Vanguard should stop embarrassing themselves and engage in more constructive political dialogue rather than attempting to distract the public with laughable ignorance,” Akans said.
