The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
He congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion and urged them to emulate the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, and perseverance as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
Tunji-Ojo called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and the continued progress of the country.
He reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the protection of lives and property of all citizens.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the major Islamic festivals observed globally to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and submission to the will of Allah.
The celebration is marked by special prayers, the slaughter of sacrificial animals, and the distribution of meat to the needy, family, and friends, fostering unity and compassion.
The Federal Government wished all Muslims a peaceful celebration and urged citizens to live in harmony for national development and cohesion.
