Eid-el-Kabir: Taraba monarch urges residents to embrace farming

The Emir of Gassol in Taraba State, His Royal Majesty Idris Chiroma, has urged residents of the Gassol Emirate to embrace agriculture as a viable source of livelihood.

Chiroma made the call on Saturday in his Eid-el-Kabir message to the people of the area.

He said agriculture remained the most accessible means of economic empowerment, especially in Taraba where land is abundant and government policies are supportive.

“The agricultural sector is still open to everyone. We have vast land and laws that encourage farming,” the monarch said.

He urged youths to shun social vices and take advantage of the agricultural development drive of Governor Agbu Kefas, adding that engaging in farming would help them become self-reliant.

“The youth should look into different aspects of agriculture to earn a decent living and improve their standard of living,” he said.

Chiroma also appealed for peace among residents during and after the Sallah celebration, noting that Islam stands for peace and righteousness.

“Islam is a religion of peace. Allah will surely punish evil and sinful acts,” he added.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated annually by Muslims worldwide in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
