The Bauchi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Hajara Yakubu Wanka, has congratulated Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and citizens of the state on the occasion of Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
Wanka, in a message shared on her social media handles, commended the governor for what she described as six years of purposeful and people-centered governance.

She noted that since taking office in 2019, Governor Mohammed has spearheaded inclusive development initiatives, major infrastructure projects, and social reforms aimed at improving lives across Bauchi State.
Highlighting some of the achievements under the governor’s leadership, the commissioner said the number of out-of-school children in Bauchi has dropped from 1.2 million to approximately 521,000, thanks to reforms and investment in the education sector.

She also cited progress in the health sector, including the construction and renovation of general hospitals and primary healthcare centers under the Bauchi Healthcare Revival initiative.
Other areas of impact, according to Wanka, include water, sanitation, agriculture, poverty alleviation, and social inclusion.
The commissioner praised the creation of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management by Governor Mohammed as a “bold and forward-thinking move” aimed at strengthening social protection.

Wanka, who is the pioneer commissioner of the ministry, said her team has led coordinated emergency responses, relief interventions, and empowerment initiatives targeting displaced and vulnerable groups across the state.
“As Bauchi celebrates Democracy Day, it is clear that Governor Bala Mohammed’s leadership has renewed hope, restored dignity, and laid the groundwork for sustainable development,” she said.
