The Kano State Government has congratulated newly inaugurated executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, led by Comrade Murtala Adewale of The Guardian newspaper.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Garba Waiya, described their emergence through a peaceful and democratic process as a reflection of the trust reposed in them by their colleagues.

Waiya also commended the outgoing leadership for its commitment to the Chapel’s growth and described the Chapel as a key partner in promoting government policies and shaping public opinion.
He urged journalists to remain professional and uphold truth, objectivity, and fairness in their reportage, especially in an era of widespread misinformation.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for journalism development in the state, particularly through training and capacity building.
“We are optimistic that under the new leadership, our collaboration will grow stronger,” he said.
In a statement, the Director of Special Duties in the Ministry, Sani Abba Yola, wished the new executives a successful and impactful tenure.
