Thunderstorms Likely in Jalingo, Gembu as Temperatures Soar

Residents of Jalingo, Gembu, and surrounding areas areas advised to prepare for a mix of high temperatures, cloudy skies, and possible thunderstorms this Saturday, according to the latest weather forecast.

Early morning reports indicate a significant drop in visibility across most locations, with wind speeds reaching 11 metres per second. Relative humidity levels are high, ranging between 61 and 87 percent, while the skies remain largely overcast.

By afternoon, temperatures are expected to rise sharply, with highs between 32°C and 34°C. Despite the heat, moderate winds and partial cloud cover are likely to make conditions tolerable. Relative humidity is forecast to decline slightly to between 44 and 54 percent.

Air temperatures during the afternoon are expected to range from 31°C to 33°C, with skies remaining mostly cloudy. There is a moderate chance of rainfall developing between late afternoon and evening, particularly in areas such as Gassol and Gembu, where temperatures could reach up to 35°C.

By evening, temperatures are projected to dip slightly to between 28°C and 33°C. Cloud cover will persist, with relative humidity levels climbing to between 46 and 68 percent. Thunderstorms are likely in some locations during the evening hours and may continue into the early hours of Sunday.

In the Gembu region, residents should expect cooler temperatures, ranging from 18°C to 21°C, though evening thunderstorms are also forecast. Relative humidity levels in the region may rise sharply, with some locations experiencing readings above 90 percent.

Across the Gassol region, the temperature is expected to remain high at 28°C to 33°C, with cloudy conditions and humidity ranging from 46 to 71 percent.

In addition to weather conditions, the geomagnetic field is expected to remain active throughout the day. Experts warn that this may have minor impacts on GPS, satellite systems, and radio communication.

The UV index will also remain high, peaking at 9.9 in Jalingo and reaching extreme levels of 12.3 in isolated areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against sun exposure.
