The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, has reiterated the House’s commitment to work closely with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance service delivery and foster development across the state.

Speaking during the NYSC delegation’s courtesy visit, the Speaker praised the Corps’ valuable contributions to the education sector and community development. “Education is the bedrock of societal progress. For our state to grow, investing in education and supporting the NYSC scheme at all levels is crucial,” he stated.
NYSC Area Director, Mrs. Aishatu Adamu Abubakar, thanked the Assembly and the Speaker for their unwavering support, which has positively impacted corps members serving in various communities. She called for continued support to ensure corps members can effectively contribute to their host communities.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Ela Aji Williams, also revealed plans to launch a Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers in Zing Local Government Area and sought the Assembly’s backing to ensure the program’s success.
In recognition of his support, Speaker Bonzena was presented with an award by the NYSC, particularly applauding his efforts within his Zing constituency.
Later, the Speaker received the new FRSC Sector Commander, Anna Atah, who paid a familiarization visit to the Assembly. Hon. Bonzena assured her of the House’s support in the Corps’ road safety programs aimed at educating Taraba motorists and reducing road crashes.
Commander Atah expressed gratitude for the government’s backing and informed the House that FRSC officers have been deployed to various local government areas to enforce road safety regulations. She also appealed for legislative support to enact laws addressing common causes of accidents, especially over-speeding.
