The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) has expressed its readiness to conduct the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025.
The Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Phillip Duwe, disclosed this in an interview with reporters at the Taraba State House of Assembly Complex in Jalingo.

Dr. Duwe said TSIEC has already released the timetable for the exercise and is working strictly in line with the law that established the commission. He explained that preparations are in top gear to ensure a smooth, credible, and inclusive election.
According to him, “Election is not a one-man business. It is a collective process that must respect everyone — from persons with disabilities to top-ranking officials. Everyone must be carried along.”

He described the electorate as a vital part of the democratic process, saying their rights must be protected at all costs.
The TSIEC boss further stated that the commission has embarked on several sensitisation programmes to educate the public, especially at the grassroots, about their roles and responsibilities in the election.

He assured that all necessary logistics, including security arrangements, have been put in place to guarantee a peaceful and transparent election.
Dr. Duwe called on eligible voters across the state to participate actively in the process and help strengthen democracy at the local level.
