The announcement, made by Acting Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Hamidu Kara, credited recent reforms and plantation revitalization efforts for the surge in profit. However, critics argue that the figures, while encouraging, lack the financial breakdowns typically expected in such disclosures.
“There is a need for detailed audited financial statements to support these claims,” said a regional business analyst who requested anonymity. “A public company making a leap from ₦50 million to ₦110 million in under half a year raises questions, especially in an industry often hampered by logistics, infrastructure, and market competition.”
Furthermore, while the company has touted an increase in daily tea production from 4,500 to 15,000 kilograms, some agricultural experts question the sustainability of such rapid output growth without evidence of parallel investments in equipment, labor, and logistics.
On labor matters, Dr. Kara’s claim that the company has fully implemented the new national minimum wage and introduced incentive packages is yet to be independently confirmed by labor unions or third-party monitors. Workers within the region have reportedly expressed cautious optimism but are still awaiting formal documentation of the promised benefits.
In response to social media claims about a failed partnership with a Kenyan tea company, Dr. Kara dismissed the reports as “baseless and unfounded.” However, the company has not provided any formal statements or documentation outlining ongoing or proposed international partnerships.
