Bauchi Governor Sets Up Peace Committee for Bogoro, Tafawa Balewa

Gov. Bala Mohammed – Sept. 01, 2025

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, yesterday inaugurated a Peace Sensitization Committee for Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas, with a mandate to consolidate peaceful coexistence and avert communal unrest in the two councils.

The governor, while performing the inauguration, emphasized the importance of preserving the relative calm which, according to him, the areas had enjoyed for almost three decades.

He, however, expressed concern over the resurgence of hostilities, particularly the recent clashes between farmers and herders that claimed lives and destroyed property.

Mohammed warned that his administration would not tolerate any act capable of destabilising the state, noting that troublemakers would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

He further directed the committee to work through religious institutions, describing them as effective channels of grassroots mobilisation and enlightenment.

He also tasked members to provide early warning signals by reporting any situation that might require government intervention.
