Over 300 small business owners, artisans, and skilled workers in Kwara Central Senatorial District have received cash grants ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦500,000 through the empowerment initiative of Senator Saliu Mustapha in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
Speaking during the distribution in Ilorin, Senator Mustapha’s representative, Hon. Bashirat Kolawole, said the scheme was designed to strengthen small businesses, create jobs, and promote financial independence. “The senator is intentional about making people self-reliant rather than dependent,” she noted.
Political commentator, Comrade Lanre Ishowo, described Mustapha as “a genuine philanthropist who has touched countless lives,” urging beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to grow their enterprises.
SMEDAN’s representative, Mr. Marvelous Olumide Atta, commended the initiative as a bold step in addressing the challenges faced by artisans and small-scale operators. “This grant is not just a financial intervention but a testament to our belief in the potential of local craftsmen and skilled workers,” he said, adding that the agency would complement the scheme with training and mentorship.
