…Condolence Kwara Attack Victims

Presidential aspirant, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has warned that Northern Nigeria risks sliding into war if urgent and coordinated national action is not taken to curb terrorism and banditry.
In a statement on Monday, Hashim condole with families of victims of the recent attack in Oke Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, where 15 people, including vigilantes and the Baale of the community, were killed. He also urged security agencies to act swiftly to rescue abducted persons.
Hashim disclosed that two months ago he had a 30-minute security-focused discussion with Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in his capacity as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. He said although the governor assured him the situation was under control, recent events had proved otherwise.
“What is obvious is that despite his best efforts, the issues are well beyond him,” he said.
The politician cautioned that terrorist groups were making moves to establish control in some Northern states, depending on political developments ahead of 2027.
“God forbid, but there are clear indications that terrorist forces are actively working to establish government in some Northern states,” he warned, identifying the North Central as the likely theatre of crisis.
Hashim described the Oke Ode killings as a grim reminder of the escalating threat, similar to past attacks in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger, Baruteen and Pategi local government areas.
He accused Nigeria’s ruling elite of complacency and disconnection from the realities facing ordinary citizens.

“It is tragic that those in power are kidding with this rapidly emerging danger. Most of our ruling elites remain aloof or already have their personal plans, leaving poor and helpless communities in danger,” he said.
Hashim called for urgent, professional and coordinated security operations to avert state collapse, stressing that Nigeria cannot afford to allow terrorists and criminals to consolidate control over ungoverned spaces.
