Nigeria @65: Oct. 2, 2025

The Kpan Sanwi of Lau in Taraba State, Haniel Banti Hinlewhini, has urged the Federal Government to be more decisive in governance as Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a goodwill message on Thursday, the monarch lamented that many leaders had failed to take critical decisions that could improve citizens’ lives, blaming it on parochial interests.
He accused politicians of mortgaging the nation’s future by allowing foreign powers to dictate Nigeria’s development agenda.

On Nigeria’s quest for a permanent seat at the UN Security Council, Kpan Sanwi said the country has the capacity to represent Africa, commending Vice President Kashim Shettima for his “sound and impactful” presentation at the recent UN General Assembly.
He described Nigeria as an indivisible nation with huge potential, urging leaders to put aside selfishness and work for genuine national development.
