The Taraba State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Serah Enoch Adi, has rolled out sweeping fiscal reforms aimed at strengthening the state’s economy and boosting internally generated revenue.
Dr. Adi, who also supervises World Bank and other multilateral-funded projects, said her ministry had restored order in the state’s payroll system through rigorous auditing, ensuring consistent payment of salaries and gratuities to verified retirees.
She disclosed that the ministry now produces annual budgets on schedule, with priority given to capital projects over recurrent spending. According to her, government projects are being closely monitored in partnership with consultants to guarantee value for money.

On revenue, the commissioner revealed that Taraba’s monthly internally generated revenue (IGR) has doubled from ₦800 million to ₦1.6 billion. She expressed optimism that the figure could surpass ₦15 billion by year-end.
Dr. Adi further explained that her ministry had secured federal grants and financial support at minimal cost to the state while maintaining collaboration with the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) for efficient fund disbursement.

She added that vehicles and office supplies have been procured for ministries, departments and agencies to enhance efficiency, stressing that fiscal discipline and transparency remain the hallmark of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration.
