Dangote Okpella – Oct. 11, 2025

In a major step towards operational excellence, Dangote Okpella Cement Limited has been awarded the Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), following a comprehensive audit of its management and production processes.

The certification, which integrates international standards on quality, environment, and occupational health and safety, underscores the company’s commitment to global best practices and sustainable manufacturing.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony in Okpella at the weekend, the Plant Director, Engr. Mohammed Ismaeel, described the certification as a landmark achievement that reflects the company’s dedication to continuous improvement and world-class performance.

“This certification means a lot to us. It is the result of hard work and collective commitment,” Ismaeel said. “It aligns with our vision to be one of the global leaders in cement manufacturing — respected for our product quality, service delivery, and the integrity with which we conduct our business.”

He noted that the IMS certification brings significant benefits, including global recognition, business continuity, reduced wastage, enhanced customer satisfaction, and improved compliance with regulatory standards.

The Plant Director added that the certification was not merely ceremonial but a practical demonstration of the company’s resolve to uphold the highest standards in quality, environmental stewardship, and employee safety.

The certificate was formally presented to the company’s management by the Head of Quality Control and IMS Team Lead, Mr. Anil Rao, who commended the commitment and professionalism demonstrated throughout the certification process.

Rao explained that the IMS framework at Okpella Cement was designed to ensure consistent product quality, environmental responsibility, and safe working conditions, while strategically positioning the plant as a global benchmark in the cement industry.

“This achievement reaffirms our dedication to excellence, sustainability, and continuous improvement,” he said.

According to him, the certification aligns the company’s operations with three core international standards — the Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
