Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has signed the 2025 Supplementary Budget of ₦143.42 billion into law, with an additional virement of ₦14.68 billion earlier approved by the State House of Assembly.
The supplementary budget, according to the government, is aimed at meeting urgent funding needs in critical sectors, including security, infrastructure, and economic development. It is also expected to cushion the effects of inflation and exchange rate pressures on ongoing projects.
The implementation of the supplementary budget will run until May 31, 2026, to allow for proper execution of projects across the state.
A report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation said the additional allocation would help the government tackle emerging economic and security challenges while aligning spending with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
With the new approval, the total budget size for Taraba State in 2025 now stands at ₦574.8 billion, with capital expenditure accounting for 68.9% and recurrent expenditure 31.1%.
The committee urged the state government to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely release of funds to achieve the goals of the supplementary budget.
