The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kwara State chapter, has called on the state government and security agencies to investigate the alleged killing of Fulani herders in Edu Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
The state chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Shehu Garba, made the call in a statement issued in Ilorin, urging the government to compensate affected Fulani families for the loss of lives, livestock, and property, just as it had done for other groups in similar circumstances.
Garba expressed worry over what he described as the government’s slow response to issues affecting Fulani communities, especially when such issues involve the destruction of lives and livelihoods.
According to him, findings by the association revealed that no fewer than 20 Fulani individuals have been killed in separate incidents in Oke Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area; Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area; and Gbugbu, Edu Local Government Area.
He added that about 42 cows, sheep, and goats were missing, while more than 1,200 bags of grains and several shelters were destroyed during the attacks.
The MACBAN chairman further alleged that local vigilantes conducting stop-and-search operations along the Omu-Aran road had seized at least five Fulani persons who were reportedly handed over to security agencies but have since remained missing.
He described the alleged attacks on Fulani individuals by persons reportedly wearing state-approved vigilante uniforms as disturbing and called for urgent government intervention to prevent further escalation.

Garba appealed to the state government to ensure fairness and justice for Fulani residents by compensating them for their losses, as was done for other affected communities.
He also urged security agencies to investigate the alleged disappearance of Fulani persons reportedly handed over to them by vigilantes in Omu-Aran to unravel the truth behind the incident.
