The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has issued an Executive Order directing the immediate clearance of all outstanding pensions, gratuities and related entitlements owed to verified retirees in the state.
The directive, issued on Sunday, is part of the administration’s push to address the backlog of arrears and improve the welfare of senior citizens who served the state.
Kefas, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda, said the state would not fail in its responsibility to honour retired workers.
“Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service. Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty,” the governor said.
As part of the implementation process, a special outreach team is to be deployed to all local government areas, wards and villages to identify pensioners who are alive but incapacitated, ensuring that their entitlements are paid without difficulty.
He also directed the Ministry of Finance to submit a weekly compliance report to his office, warning that no administrative bottlenecks would be tolerated.
