Sixteen local government chairmen in Taraba State have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party in a collective move to align with Governor Agbu Kefas, who is expected to defect to the All Progressives Congress.

The chairmen, led by Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan, announced their resignation on Monday, saying their decision followed extensive consultations across the councils.

They said their action was motivated by the governor’s leadership style, particularly his push for peace, reforms in local governance, and efforts to reposition the state.

“We are pledging our loyalty and support to the Governor as he takes a strategic step aimed at advancing the development of the state,” the statement read.
