The Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) has today, Monday presented certificates of return to the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of the state’s 16 local government areas.
TSIEC Executive Chairman Dr. Philip Danladi Duwe congratulated the officials, describing their emergence as a “manifestation of God’s grace and perseverance in politics.” He urged them to rise above the “psychology of underdevelopment” and tap into the state’s vast potential. “Leaders must think globally and act locally,” he said.
Dismissing claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that it was denied registration ahead of the elections, the Chairman said: “You cannot write an examination without registration. There was no registration. At my age—heading to 73—I have no reason to lie.” He also lauded the Commission for successfully defending two court cases prior to the elections, ensuring peace and stability.
Responding on behalf of the Chairmen-elect, the Sardauna Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Mohammed J. Umar, thanked Governor Agbu Kefas for entrusting them with leadership roles. He said the five returning chairmen would not take the responsibility for granted and pledged to advise incoming colleagues to elevate their local governments and the state.
Hon. Umar added that the governor’s guidance would be translated into practical actions to ensure prosperity at the local level and prepare strategically for the 2027 state and national elections.
