President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday received former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, following his safe return from Guinea-Bissau.
Jonathan briefed the President on developments in Guinea-Bissau, where he led an international delegation on an election observation mission that was disrupted by political and military tension.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the meeting took place shortly after Jonathan’s return to Nigeria.

Reports had earlier indicated that Jonathan and other foreign observers were temporarily stranded in Guinea-Bissau after a group of military officers announced the suspension of the electoral process and the closure of land, air, and sea borders.
The development followed rival victory claims by incumbent President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and opposition candidate Fernando Dias.
Confirming Jonathan’s evacuation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the former president left Guinea-Bissau on a special flight alongside members of his delegation, including Mohamed Chambas.
Speaking to journalists after his return, Jonathan expressed concern over the disruption of the electoral process, questioning the circumstances surrounding the announcement of a coup and urging regional and continental bodies to ensure the results of the election are transparently announced.
He called on the ECOWAS and the African Union to uphold democratic principles by ensuring that the will of the people is respected.
