Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has called for an end to violence in Plateau State, urging residents to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation as the pathway to lasting peace.
Enenche made the appeal on Saturday while addressing a large congregation at the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival, where he stressed that the message of Christ remains God’s ultimate solution to human conflict.
Preaching on the theme “The Gift of Jesus Christ to Humanity,” the cleric outlined six dimensions of Christ as God’s gift to mankind. He illustrated redemption with the analogy of a fisherman who bought back his lost boat, noting that humanity is “owned twice by God—by creation and by redemption.”
The pastor specifically prayed for peace in communities that have suffered repeated attacks, including Jos North, Jos South, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Pankshin, Shendam and Bassa, declaring that insecurity must come to an end across the state. He also called for divine wisdom and direction for political leaders in confronting Plateau’s security challenges.

Speaking at the Ten Commandments Prayer Ground in Dwei-Du, Governor Caleb Mutfwang described the festival as a critical platform for healing and rebuilding trust after years of ethno-religious tensions. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to unity and to restoring Plateau’s image as the “home of peace and tourism.”
The three-day programme, held from November 28 to 30, attracted Christian leaders, traditional rulers, former public office holders and worshippers from across the state. Security agencies were visibly deployed around the venue, reflecting the importance attached to the event.
Retired Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, commended the resilience of Plateau citizens, noting that the massive turnout despite past traumatic experiences demonstrated courage and resolve. He declared that Plateau State remains strong and unshaken, adding that terrorism would not defeat the people.
Former governors Joshua Dariye and Jonah Jang also addressed participants. Dariye urged residents to remain steadfast and allow Governor Mutfwang the space to govern, while Jang, now President of Yeshua Kingdom Foundation International, disclosed ongoing development projects at the venue, including new accommodation facilities and a proposed 2,000-capacity chapel.
Now in its second edition, the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival has continued to serve as a symbol of resilience and interdenominational solidarity. This year’s gathering, however, was marked by a strong and consistent call for peace—an appeal that resonated deeply with a population still grappling with the scars of prolonged conflict.
