The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Karim Lamido Local Government branch, Ismaila Abdullahi Gagare, has condemned the recent communal conflict between the Shomo/Karimjo and Wurkun communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Gagare made the condemnation during a telephone interview with The Newspointer, describing the clash as unfortunate and avoidable. He noted that the affected communities had coexisted peacefully for decades, expressing concern over the loss of lives and destruction of properties valued at millions of naira.

According to him, the dispute could have been resolved through dialogue, revealing that he was already in the process of mediating between the parties over the land dispute in Usumanu village before the violence erupted.
He called on the warring communities to lay down their arms and embrace dialogue to allow peace to return to the area. The MACBAN chairman also urged Fulani herdsmen in the locality to remain neutral and support efforts aimed at brokering peace between their neighbours, warning that the consequences of the conflict would be devastating for all concerned.
Gagare appealed to the Taraba State Government to intervene decisively in resolving the Usumanu land dispute in the interest of peace, unity and socio-economic development of the area.
He further sympathised with the communities affected by the violence and appealed to governments at all levels to urgently provide relief and support to families displaced by the conflict.
