The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested three suspects over the alleged vandalisation and theft of railway materials along a rail track in Offa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested following the interception of an 18-year-old, Mosahudu Salisu, by an official of the Nigeria Railway Corporation on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Adeleke area of Offa. Salisu was reportedly caught while attempting to convey stolen railway clips and nuts on a motorcycle before he was handed over to the NSCDC Offa Division.
Further investigations by the corps led to the arrest of two other suspects—19-year-old Hassan Abu, said to be the principal vandal, and 35-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, alleged to be the middleman linking the vandals with the buyer of the stolen items.
Parading the suspects on Tuesday, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Umar J. G. Mohammed, condemned the act, describing it as a threat to public safety and national development.
He noted that vandalisation of railway infrastructure undermines economic growth and endangers the lives of Nigerians, commending the professionalism and intelligence-driven operations of NSCDC personnel in Offa that led to the arrests.
The commandant assured that the suspects would be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigations and urged residents to remain vigilant by providing credible information to security agencies.
“All the suspects are currently in our custody and are cooperating with investigators. The NSCDC will continue to protect critical national assets across Kwara State,” he said.
