Taraba Hostility – Dec. 4, 2025
The Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Taraba State, Comrade Obidah Bitrus, has condemned the recent hostilities involving Usumanu, Shomo and other communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking in an interview, Bitrus called for peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups, stressing that unity and harmony remain critical to development and social progress in the area.

He noted that the commission of inquiry set up by Governor Agbu Kefas to investigate the crisis has submitted its report, urging residents to exercise patience as government at all levels works to implement lasting solutions to restore peace.
According to him, recurring conflicts hinder development and must be resisted by people of goodwill. He recalled how communities in Karim Lamido previously lived together peacefully, intermarried and shared common interests, describing the recent violence as a regrettable departure from that history.
Bitrus pledged his full support to the government and other stakeholders in efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in Karim Lamido Local Government Area and across Taraba State.
