Call of Removel – Dec. 5, 2025

The Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development has congratulated General Christopher Musa on his appointment and confirmation as Minister of Defence, describing it as a strategic decision that aligns with the nation’s urgent security needs.

In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the group commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting a seasoned military officer to lead the ministry, noting that the move demonstrates the administration’s resolve to confront terrorism, insurgency and armed banditry with renewed vigour.

Shinkafi, however, called for the immediate dismissal of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, alleging that he lacks the expertise required to manage complex national security challenges. He further accused the minister of showing sympathy for bandits — a claim he said raises concerns about the credibility of the defence leadership.

The group also demanded the scrapping of the office of Minister of State for Defence, insisting that the position is unnecessary and constitutes an aberration within the military command structure.

While expressing confidence in General Musa’s capacity, the organisation criticised previous appointments of non-military figures to head the ministry, stating that effective coordination of the armed forces requires experience, professionalism and strategic depth.

It highlighted Nigeria’s escalating security challenges, including terrorism, insurgency, banditry, militancy and kidnapping for ransom, stressing the need for strong leadership backed by adequate funding, equipment and morale for the troops.

The group urged Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu and General Musa in the collective effort to restore peace, stability, unity and national progress.
