Dangote Foundation – Dec. 11, 2025

Vice President Kashim Shettima has unveiled the Aliko Dangote Foundation Education Scholarship Initiative, describing it as a strategic investment in rebuilding Nigeria’s human capital and expanding opportunities for young people nationwide.
Speaking at the launch in Abuja, Shettima said the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s push to strengthen the education sector and ensure more Nigerian children gain access to quality learning. According to him, the country’s long-term development depends on the capacity of its human resource base.
The Vice President applauded the Aliko Dangote Foundation for what he called a timely and patriotic intervention, noting that the private sector has a crucial role to play in supporting education reforms and bridging gaps in access, funding and innovation.
He explained that the scholarship scheme will support students across basic and tertiary levels, with special consideration for vulnerable groups, displaced learners and communities affected by insecurity. This, he said, will help reduce inequalities that have persisted for years.
Shettima added that the administration remains committed to upgrading school infrastructure, improving teacher training and expanding digital education platforms to equip students with the skills needed in an evolving global economy.
In his remarks, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting education as a driver of social and economic transformation. He said the scholarship programme is designed to remove financial barriers and allow young Nigerians pursue their academic ambitions without hindrance.
Dangote said the Foundation has consistently invested in health, humanitarian assistance and poverty-reduction programmes across the country, stressing that education remains central to its mission of transforming lives and communities.
The launch drew government officials, education stakeholders and development partners who welcomed the initiative as a major boost to Nigeria’s quest for a knowledge-driven economy and greater youth empowerment.
