The Federal Government has restated its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s clean energy transition, pledging sustained support for projects that enhance low-carbon development and deliver affordable mobility options to citizens.
A senior government official, who spoke during a stakeholder engagement on Nigeria’s energy future, said the administration is prioritising investments that reduce dependence on fossil fuels while expanding access to modern transport solutions.
He noted that the government’s clean energy roadmap places special emphasis on electric mobility, compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, solar-powered innovations and other climate-friendly technologies designed to cut costs for Nigerians amid rising global energy pressures.
“The Federal Government remains committed to any initiative that advances our clean energy transition,” the official said. “Projects that make mobility cheaper, safer and more sustainable for our people are central to our policy direction.”
He explained that ongoing partnerships with private investors, development agencies and state governments are expected to accelerate the rollout of affordable green transport systems across major cities.
According to him, the clean energy push is also aligned with Nigeria’s national climate commitments and the drive to position the country as a regional leader in renewable technology adoption.
He assured Nigerians that the administration will continue to create an enabling environment, strengthen regulations and expand incentives aimed at boosting public confidence and investment in the sector.
Stakeholders at the meeting lauded the government’s stance, noting that sustained political will and funding remain key to achieving a cleaner, more affordable and more resilient energy future for the country.
