The Jigawa State Government has intensified efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery, with a renewed focus on women and children in hard-to-reach rural communities.

Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA), Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, who disclosed this in Dutse, said the intervention forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at expanding access to essential health services.

He said the state is scaling up routine immunisation, maternal care and child-health interventions, particularly in communities where access to basic healthcare remains limited.

According to him, the agency is also working closely with traditional and religious leaders to deepen community engagement and improve participation in the programme.

Dr. Ibrahim stated that outreach teams have been deployed across various local governments to conduct health education, mobilisation and doorstep sensitisation.

He added that the renewed push reflects the state government’s commitment to improving health outcomes and reducing the burden of preventable diseases among vulnerable groups.

The Executive Secretary reiterated the agency’s resolve to strengthen the primary healthcare structure in line with national targets on maternal and child health.

He urged residents to take advantage of the available services, assuring them of adequate personnel, vaccines and medical supplies.
