Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has formally sealed his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after officially registering as a member of the ruling party.
The governor completed his registration on Sunday at the Government House in Jalingo, where he was enrolled by executives of the APC Hospital Ward in Wukari Local Government Area and issued his membership card.

Speaking after the exercise, Governor Kefas said the registration was a compulsory step to enable him fully participate in party affairs, despite earlier suspending his official defection ceremony.
He explained that the planned ceremony, initially scheduled for November 19, was put on hold in solidarity with schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State, but stressed that the ward-level registration remained necessary.
“I have already written to the party at the ward level, and today’s exercise is a necessary step to meet the basic requirements. Even if the official ceremony had held, this registration would still have been mandatory,” the governor said.
Kefas expressed appreciation to the ward executives and members of the APC State Working Committee for their support.
The APC State Secretary, Mr. Fidelis Francis, who supervised the registration, welcomed the governor into the party and assured him of the support of the party leadership in the state.
Francis said the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, and other executives were ready to work closely with the governor to strengthen and reposition the party in Taraba State.
The APC Hospital Ward Chairman in Wukari, Mr. Umaru Tanko, later presented the APC membership card to Governor Kefas.
