The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of several senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to higher ranks, following what it described as a thorough, transparent, and merit-driven assessment process.
The promotions were concluded after written examinations and oral interviews held at the commission’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The exercise was presided over by the PSC Chairman, Hashimu Salihu Argungu.
Among those elevated from the rank of Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector General of Police are CP Agene Emmanuel, FCID, of Kaduna State Command, CP Ihebom Chukwuma of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, alongside five other senior officers.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, Argungu congratulated them on their advancement and reminded them that the new ranks come with increased responsibilities and higher public expectations.
“Promotion is not just a reward but a call to higher service. You must brace up to your new responsibilities with renewed commitment to the nation,” the PSC Chairman said.
He stressed that the commission expects the officers to rededicate themselves to effective policing, the protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of law and order across the country.
According to him, “With higher rank comes higher expectations. Nigerians are looking up to you to deliver professional, people-oriented, and intelligence-driven policing.”
Argungu further reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to regular and merit-based promotions in line with global best practices, noting that competence, discipline, and integrity would continue to guide career progression within the police force.
The commission stated that the promotion exercise reflects its determination to strengthen leadership capacity within the Nigeria Police Force and enhance overall security operations nationwide.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the commission, Torty Enjoy Kalu.
