The newly elected President of the Bankers All Stars (BAS) Football Club, Abiodun Sadiku, has pledged to prioritise members’ welfare, unity and teamwork as he assumes leadership of the Ilorin-based football club.
Sadiku emerged president at the weekend through an online voting process, describing his election as a call to service rather than a personal achievement, while assuring members of an inclusive and transparent administration.
Speaking after his emergence, the new president said his leadership would focus on strengthening team spirit, improving members’ welfare and ensuring that every member feels valued and adequately represented within the club.
He explained that while the club would continue to pursue excellence on the pitch through discipline and teamwork, equal attention would be given to members’ well-being and professional relationships off the field.
Sadiku noted that the Bankers All Stars is more than a football club, stressing that it embodies core values such as unity, discipline, teamwork and excellence, which members practise daily in their banking careers.
He urged members to remain committed, supportive and actively involved in the club’s activities, adding that trust, communication and collective effort were essential for sustained success. He also promised to consolidate on the solid foundation laid by previous executives.
Earlier, the immediate past president, Temitope Ogundiya, said the club had consistently set the pace among all-star football teams in Ilorin, commending members for their discipline and prompt payment of dues despite prevailing economic challenges, and urging them to give maximum support to the new leadership to ensure continuity and growth.
